Maroubra Bodyboarders Incorporated
Club History
In the late 80’s and early 90’s Eastern Suburbs Bodyboarders was one of the strongest clubs in the country. With riders like Evan Penglis, Ross ‘Hellman’ Hawke, Bob Bell, PJ Hyland and Steven ‘Bullet’ McKenzie dominating the scene and emerging as international names in the sport. Many of the original crew made the trek to prove themselves on the North Shore winter after winter till finally they tasted success.

ESB as it was known produced many talented riders and it’s members were podium regulars at state, national and international contests. Supported by Maroubra Underground the club was rated as No 2 by Rush Magazine and played its part in the rise of bodyboarding as a sport. Who could forget those original contest days and all the blood, sweat and tears put into the club by Carl Miller, Jodi Livermore, Petey Bennetts, Brad George, Blinks and many others.

For the past 15 years the need for a club was suppressed and all seemed lost but for the determination and passion of Blinks Smith one of the original members and long time bodyboarders at the Bra.
In 2008 members of the original club have teamed with the new blood of bodyboarding to bring competitive action back to Maroubra.
